Certified Hard Drive Recovery in Manassas, Virginia

My computer crashed on New Year’s Eve. The boot drive became dysfunctional. There was no way to get the data through a simple connection to the drive. This hard drive had many files that I valued that I had not been backed up. Secure Data confirmed that they could recover these files. They quoted a price. They probably wish they asked for more since as they started to look at the drive more closely it appeared that the registry was severely damaged as part of a Window’s update. Over a couple of weeks the engineer persisted to try to recover what he could. In the end, he was able to recover about 70 % of what was on the disk. I am very happy they did not give up. What was recovered is very valuable to me.

As a photographer, returning from a once in a lifetime, 2 week long trip to Venice, Verona, Tuscany, etc . I was devastated to find out my 5 week old Seagate external hard drive completely failed!! I lost over 5000 photos. Thinking I was doubly covered with online backup system and warranty through seagate, I called the warranty company to get process started. I was beyond frustrated to learn the online backup did not include external drives and the warranty company only gave me small glimmer of hope of recovering data. I did a google search for reviews of the warranty company's data retrieval and was shocked to see it was very low. The top company that had wonderful reviews was Secure Data. So even though it would have cost me nothing to go through the other warranty company, I chose to pay out of pocket and go with Secure Data with great reviews! I was pleasantly surprised to find that they immediately answered the phone when I called and Frederick was amazingly encouraging! As we were talking on the phone, he emailed me my shipping label to get my external mailed to them right away. The other company wouldn't even talk to me on the phone but insisted on email only! When you are in panic, you don't want to communicate through email! So, after they received my failed external, Secure Data called and let me know they could retrieve about 56% of my data. It was actually a bit higher than that even because some of my photos had 2 copies so even though I lost one version, I found that there was another version on the recovered list!! So overall, I lost very few images of my once in a lifetime trip!! Frederick was extremely helpful through the entire process and I couldn't be happier. It was not cheap but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my PPA membership covered a big chunk of the expense to recover data! (So, I'd recommend that membership if you are a photographer!) After I received my new external with recovered files, I decided to go ahead and send the old failed hard drive to the original warranty company to at least get a replacement hard drive since that was still under warranty. When they received it, they put it through the 'recover' process and just called me today to inform me that NOTHING could be retrieved because the damage was too great!! If I had sent my hard drive to them originally, I wouldn't have any of my 5000 photos that I have now!! Thank you Secure Data Recovery and Frederick for everything you do!!!! I am one happy client!
