Comparing SSAE 16 Type II SOC 1 with other reporting standards

Secure Data Recovery Services was the first data recovery provider to present a valid SSAE 16 Type II SOC 1 report, and as leaders in data security, we make every effort to keep our clients informed regarding our security practices. SSAE 16 Type II SOC-1 is a standard report developed for organizations that handle financial data; it officially replaced the previous statement of standards, SAS 70, in June of 2011.

The chart below explores the major differences between different types of financial security reports. When using this chart, it is important to understand that SOC-3 and SOC-2 are not inferior to SOC-1 for every purpose. Many businesses deal with financial data, but not in a way that directly affects their clients, while others need to provide a general overview of their systems. Likewise, there are key differences between SOC 1 Type 1 and SOC 1 Type II, although neither standard is necessarily better. In our opinion, SSAE 16 Type II SOC-1 is the most appropriate reporting option for our industry given the large amount of financial information that data recovery companies handle on an everyday basis. By committing to this standard, we provide our clients with the information that they need to use our services without taking unnecessary risks.
