Razer, as a company, has been known more for it’s gaming peripherals than any other aspect of its business model. That ends today with the release of Razer’s new ultra-thin laptop named Blade.
What Is it?
The Razer Blade is a 14” ultra-thin and ultra-light laptop designed specifically for gaming. However, due to the quality of this products manufacture, this product can and should easily crossover into private and enterprise use. The Blade is designed in an all-black, anodized aluminum shell that is angular and comparable to the design of a MacBook Pro. The unit comes with a trackpad, backlit keyboard, and speakers installed along the sides of the keyboard. To get an idea of the size of this ultra-thin laptop, take a dime and stand it on end: the Razer Blade Laptop is shorter than that dime. Battery life on the Laptop is standard for this type of ultra-thin laptop, coming in at around 6 hours.
Graphics performance is based upon the Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M, which is a decent card that will be able to perform well running graphical applications and most games with high settings. Lastly, the screen is 14” and has a native resolution of 1600 x 900 but will draw out to 1080p resolutions just fine. Heat generation on the laptop is focused on the back of the body, behind the screen, and while the system generates a large amount of heat, there are no adverse effects to the laptop.
Pros
- Great body design
- Well-built with very little flex
- Frame-rates are good to acceptable on high to ultra settings

Cons
- Trackpad buttons feel small and cheap
- Battery life is lacking compared to other ultra-thins
- Screen is acceptable, but suffers on off-angle viewing
- The 1600 x 900 screen resolution
