Professional Data Recovery and Repair Services for RAID 10

Also known as RAID 1+0, RAID 10 is a form of combined or "nested" RAID that offers the redundancy of RAID 1 with the access speeds of RAID 0. RAID 10 is a striped set of mirrored drives, which is fundamentally different from a mirrored set of striped drives (RAID 01 or 0+1). Any hard drive in each set can fail without causing data loss, although the failed drive should be replaced as soon as possible to maintain the integrity of the system.

RAID 10 servers are highly redundant and extremely fast. Businesses often use RAID 10 to prevent data loss on high-performance systems while bypassing the performance bottlenecks of RAID 1. Many web servers and database servers use RAID 10 to ensure consistent operation and dependable storage. However, no RAID configuration offers perfect protection from data loss, and all RAID 10 users should have a backup plan and disaster recovery strategy in place.

When a RAID 10 fails, your business needs help from a professional data recovery provider in order to avoid costly system downtime. Secure Data Recovery Services specializes in RAID 10, and we offer fast professional results through a network of more than two dozen offices.

RAID 10 Data Recovery

Raid 10 Recovery RAID 10 is a very popular RAID configuration and is often used in enterprise servers and database systems. It features a high degree of data protection as well as good performance.

Our data recovery experts have the knowledge and resources that proper RAID 10 data recovery demands. We work around the clock to recover your critical data and we treat server and RAID recovery jobs as high priority cases. We realize the importance that these platforms tend to have, and many businesses depend on their servers as they are an integral part of their operation.

Our RAID recovery services have been developed through many years of experience, innovative methods, and the high standards to which our clients have become accustomed.

The RAID 10 Setup

RAID 10 is a "hybrid" or nested RAID configuration. It is commonly referred to as a "stripe of mirrors".

A multiple RAID level is created by splitting the disks into sets. Within each set, one RAID configuration is applied, and then across the two sets, another RAID level is applied. Nested RAID configurations are denoted as RAID XY, or equivalently, RAID X+Y, or RAID X/Y. For RAID 10, X is 1 and Y is 0, so each set will have a RAID 1 configuration within it, and RAID 0 will be applied across the two sets.

It may be difficult to visualize this, so to illustrate, suppose you own 8 disks. The data is divided into "blocks", and these blocks are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. We generally split the disks into two sets, so we will have 4 disks in each set. Here is what this will look like:

Data Loss Scenarios for RAID 10

With proper system maintenance, data loss is relatively uncommon on RAID 10. Most systems have a hot spare to immediately replace damaged drives, but two drives can fail in a RAID 10 set before the RAID has a chance to rebuild the damaged member. Additionally, operating system failures and other logical issues can cause data loss since the RAID does not protect against software errors.

Some of the most common failure scenarios for RAID 10 include:

  • Multiple Hard Drive Failures Due to Power Surge or Other Event
  • RAID Controller Damage
  • Single Hard Drive Failure After Mirroring Issue
  • Accidental File Deletion
  • File Corruption
  • Virus Damage
  • Partitioning, Formatting or Reinitialization

Depending on the size of your array and your failure scenario, you may not immediately notice data loss. Many of our clients have trouble diagnosing their RAID failures, particularly when their systems do not present noticeable symptoms. We recommend turning off your RAID if you cannot access data. Do not operate the RAID or use any commercial data recovery programs. Disconnect the power as soon as possible and contact a professional data recovery company.

At Secure Data Recovery Services, we handle hundreds of RAID cases each year. Our engineers evaluate each RAID in a specialized laboratory to determine the exact cause of data loss and the extent of overwrites and system damage.

We are one of the only data recovery companies offering free, no-risk diagnostics for RAID 10 systems. Regardless of the size of your system or the complexity of your failure scenario, our engineers can provide you with a price quote and turnaround estimate within 24 hours of receiving your array. Call our customer service team today at 1-800- 388-1266 to set up an in-office evaluation.

A Secure Option for RAID 10 Data Recovery

Secure Data Recovery Services holds more relevant security certifications than any other RAID data recovery company. We were the first provider to earn a SSAE 16 Type II Certification, and with a number of additional credentials, we handle hundreds of cases for hospitals, government agencies and other high-security clients each year.

Our security credentials include:

  • HIPAA and FERPA Compliance Certification
  • PCI Security Certification
  • SAS 70 Certification and SSAE 16 Type II Certification
  • Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Member

Secure Data Recovery Services offers discounted RAID 10 recovery and media repair services for government clients through the General Services Administration contractor schedules. Contact our customer service team for our GSA number or for more information.

Secure Data Recovery

Class 10 ISO 4 Cleanroom Advantage

Data recovery providers often need to repair or replace failed hard drive parts in specialized Cleanrooms in order to restore failed RAID 10 systems. Cleanrooms protect against accidental media damage by preventing airborne particles from touching actuator heads, platters and other sensitive hard drive components. No data recovery provider can safely offer RAID recovery services without an appropriately certified Cleanroom.

While most data recovery companies use Class 100 Cleanrooms, Secure Data Recovery Services uses the industry's first Certified Class 10 ISO 4 Cleanroom. Class 10 specifications allow for a maximum of 10 particles per cubic foot of air, effectively preventing any chance of in-lab media damage. By working in a certified Cleanroom environment, our engineers can quickly treat hard drive damage.

Secure Data Recovery Services offers faster turnaround times and higher success rates than other RAID recovery companies. Because our engineers have decades of combined experience with RAID 10 implementations, we can recover most arrays in 2-5 business days.

Flexible Turnaround Options and Free Diagnostics

When you lose access to a mission-critical RAID 10, you need a fast, capable data recovery company that can limit your system's downtime. Secure Data Recovery Services offers flexible turnaround times to help our clients create appropriate disaster recovery strategies.

We offer 24/7/365 emergency data recovery and repair services for all RAID levels. By dedicating a team of experienced engineers to your case, we can expedite your case significantly. Secure Data Recovery Services' RAID experts complete most emergency cases in less than 48 hours.
